Hi, I'm Tiffany Carthy, MSC APP, dip cbh
Welcome to

I offer therapeutic support to people living with cancer, living beyond cancer and to caregivers via cancer counselling, cancer coaching, hypnotherapy and mindfulness, using an effective and proven combination of cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy, compassion focused therapy and coaching. These approaches have been shown to be very effective at helping to reduce anxiety, stress, insomnia, depression, fear of cancer recurrence, and pain management.
Challenging emotions, a feeling of a loss of control, stress and feeling overwhelmed in response to cancer or the diagnosis of a loved one, are common and to be expected. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms you are not alone. A diagnosis of cancer can present us with a number of emotional challenges that are sometimes overlooked when we are faced with such devastating physical ones. However, addressing the emotional challenges that accompany a diagnosis of cancer can make a significant difference to how we are able to manage the physical ones. Therapy provides people living with or surviving beyond cancer and their families, the opportunity to receive much needed and valuable emotional support.
How can Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy help?
Depending on your specific situation together we will devise a bespoke plan to help you with whatever you are struggling with. Hypnotherapy for cancer and relaxation techniques allow you to relax quickly and naturally, bringing immediate relief. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can help you identify and change any triggering thinking patterns that may be contributing to stress and anxiety. Hypnotherapy has been found to help to reduce anxiety, fear, pain and treatment induced sides effects while increasing feelings of emotional resilience and acceptance. Hypnotherapy has been shown to be safe and effective, and can help patients with all types of cancer and for many different purposes, and there’s evidence of its value and efficacy.
A study found that Hypnosis can also help to alleviate treatment related symptoms. Patients about to begin chemotherapy or radiation therapy may find that hypnotherapy can drastically reduce or eliminate the side effects of these treatments such as nausea, tiredness, etc. Hypnotherapy can help patients relax, and better cope with treatment and pain.
How can Compassion Focused Therapy help?
Compassion Focused Therapy is very effective at helping us to turn towards our own suffering with compassion as opposed to judgement. Compassion Focused Therapy helps us to learn to treat ourselves the way we would treat a loved one. To give ourselves support when we need it most. It can help us to turn towards our own distress and discomfort with acceptance. There are certain aspects of life we cannot change or control, but we can learn how to change how we react when life throws us curve balls.
Improving psychological wellbeing during the cancer journey can be very beneficial to both patients and carers and depending on requirements can take approximately 4-8 sessions depending on your requirements.
If you are looking for a cancer coach cancer counselling, hypnotherapy for cancer or hypnosis for cancer then contact me to see how I can help.

Cancer has been part of my life for a number of years having cared for and lost numerous family members to the disease. A few years ago I was diagnosis with stage 1 cancer. This was then followed by my father being diagnosed with leukaemia and spending 6 months helping to care for him while he was very sick. I didn’t hesitate to turn to therapy to get some support during the most challenging time of my life and it helped me immensely. Later on I received a stage 2 breast cancer diagnosis, the second cancer diagnosis I had received under 40. Having already been through cancer and having watched my dad suffer through this treatment it was a big blow. Cancer had once again touched my life, but instead of seeing a battle ahead I chose to see this as a signal that my body was crying out for help, that it needed my attention, love and care to get well. I focused on nourishing my mind and body with healthy food, yoga, meditation, therapy and healing. It was a challenging journey back to health, but I and am incredibly grateful that I had so many beneficial tools and skills to help me to manage the fear, anxiety, sadness, treatment side effects and changes to my body that came with it.
‘Sometimes you don’t realise the weight of something you’ve been carrying until you feel it’s release’
A meta-analysis of 20 studies found that hypnosis had a significant immediate effect on anxiety in cancer patients and the effect was sustained over time. A literature review of studies conducted on the use of hypnotherapy for pain management found that 75% of the participants in the studies reported less pain compared with the control groups.

Each session is 90 minutes in duration. In my experience the standard 50-60 minute sessions do not give us enough time. 90 minutes allows us to make significant progress while shortening the overall number of sessions required, allowing you to experience change in a shorter period of time. I set each of my clients’ short exercises in-between our sessions to accelerate the process of change.
The fee is £95 per session. Sessions are most effective on a weekly basis but can be fortnightly if preferred. If you are open, committed to the process and ready to change you can experience life changing results.
I operate a 48 hour cancellation policy or full appointment fee is due. Card details are required to confirm your booking. These are kept securely on an encrypted banking system.
