Supporting sensitive and highly sensitive people (HSP) to heal from overwhelm and trauma and go on to thrive, sharing their gifts of sensitivity with the world.
Hi i’m Tiffany and I’m a HSP therapist who specialises in working with sensitive and highly sensitive people who are struggling with the effects of overwhelm, trauma and complex PTSD. On the outside it can look at times like we have everything together; but on the inside we may be experiencing turmoil, while trying our best to hide this from the world.
Trauma can be defined as anything that was too intense for our nervous system to process in the moment. It’s important to note that only you can say whether or not something was traumatic for you.
Trauma and Complex PTSD can result in us struggling with a range of symptoms including overwhelming emotions, low self esteem, anxiety, depression, self criticism, shame and relationship difficulties. All of these survival strategies make perfect sense when we have experienced traumatic events and are living in survival mode.
Our therapy together focuses on empowering you in healing and reconnecting you to your calm, confident, courageous, compassionate and connected self. Finding calm, safety and connection within your body and your present day experiences and relationships. Experiencing emotional self regulation and co-regulation and holding a supportive space to thrive as your authentic self.
This is a place to welcome all of you, to heal, to recognise your strengths and to allow your authentic self and sensitivity to emerge and thrive.
“Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside us” – Gabor Mate
Here is a short video giving a basic overview of how trauma and chronic stress affects our nervous system and how those effects impact our mental health and wellbeing.
Ways therapy can support you:
– Healing from nervous system dysregulation, anxiety and depression. Experiencing more calm and inner peace
– Building a new compassionate and empowering connection with yourself that brings healing to your inner world
– Learn how to be kinder and more accepting of yourself
– Healing the pain and trauma of the past
– Learning how to safely, confidently and authentically navigate social situations, relationships and conflict
– Support to prevent empathic distress and overwhelm
– Understanding your needs and prioritising self care
– Embracing sensitivity as a gift, beyond trauma
– Reconnecting with your authentic self energy – experiencing calmness, clarity, curiosity, compassion, confidence, courage, creativity and connectedness
My approach to therapy is integrative, person centred and non-pathologising. I believe that you are the expert in you and I encourage collaboration and feedback in our work together. Feedback enables us to refine and reflect on what is working for you and to take a flexible approach to ensure your needs are being met.
My training is in Internal Family Systems, Compassion Focused Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Trauma, PTSD, Complex PTSD and Polyvagal Theory. I am currently deepening my training to gain UKCP registration as an integrative psychotherapist.
It is a privilege to guide others on their healing journey. If you are looking for support then I’d be honoured to connect with you to discuss your needs.
“Daring greatly means the courage to be vulnerable. It means to show up and be seen. To ask for what you need. To talk about how you’re feeling. To have the hard conversations” — Brené Brown
It’s not easy to admit we are struggling and it takes incredible courage to seek support on our healing journey. I want to take a moment to recognise your strength and bravery for simply being here, for coming this far and for considering seeking support. I have been through my own personal healing journey after struggling for many years with Complex PTSD resulting in chronic dysregulation, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and shame around my sensitivity. I experienced my sensitivity as a curse as opposed to a gift and it took me time and support to realise that I wasn’t thriving as a HSP, but surviving as a highly sensitive person with complex trauma. I began to understand that the personal challenges I was experiencing were linked to unhealed trauma. Therapy, internal family systems, compassion based practices, hypnotherapy, yoga, mindfulness, self acceptance and cultivating safe relationships were amongst the things that helped me to heal, enabling me to begin to thrive and to accept my sensitivity as a strength. It is now an honour and a privilege to support others on their healing journeys. I have experienced first hand that healing is possible and it would be honour to support you.
I also volunteer and work with cancer and hospice charities providing therapeutic support to those living with cancer and to their caregivers. This is another area close to my heart after going through breast cancer myself and coming from a family with numerous generations of cancer on both sides. If you are interested in reading more about how trauma can effect the body and the immune system I highly recommend the book ‘When the Body Says No’ by Gabor Mate.
I am also an ambassador for the charity Wave Trust where I advocate and work towards the prevention of childhood adversity and trauma
“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humour and some style” – Maya Angelou
I am a registered member of The National Society of Talking Therapies and a trainee member of the UKCP
Each session is 60 – 90 minutes in duration depending on your needs and energy during the session. In my experience sometimes the standard 50-60 minute sessions do not give us enough time to do the deep work required so I aim to be flexible. I currently conduct all of my sessions online via zoom or via telephone if preferred.
Sessions are most effective on a weekly basis but can be fortnightly if preferred.
*I offer a discounted rate to low income, unemployed, students and to those living with cancer.
I operate a 24 hour cancellation policy.
